As a single mom, working from home has been more than a convenience, but it has been a blessing financially when it comes to daycare and before/after care. I had the luxury of working from home, full-time, in corporate positions for the last few years. I had a decent salary, full-time benefits and I didn’t have the hassle of a commute. I was able to put my children on the bus in the morning as well as be there in the afternoon when they came home. Working from home also allowed me to attend more daytime school functions as the school was located close to home. I was able to take the kids to the dentist and doctor appointments just by grabbing my laptop without having to miss a day at work or even use vacation time. Remote work is definitely a luxury I never took for granted.
Finding full-time remote positions can be difficult though, because there are so many untrustworthy websites out there. I hope this information is helpful to those who are looking for true work from home positions with legit companies.
FlexJobs is a great website for remote positions. They are a subscription only site and the fees vary. They do offer a free trial period and they’re always running some sort of promotion code.
Indeed.com is also a great site but you have to be very specific when searching. The easiest search is by using the keywords “remote” and “virtual”. These searches bring up a ton of listings. LinkedIn also has a great search tool that will pull up any available work from home positions.
Below is a list of companies that are currently offering remote positions. You’ll need to go to their individual websites and search their openings to see what they have available.
