Fashion and Beauty on a Single Income

Since I became a mom, there are some days where I don’t want to leave the house, and some where I don’t even want to get out of bed. So waking up and getting all dolled up isn’t a priority for me these days. But when I have the chance, I absolutely embrace and go all out. I love makeup, playing with different hairstyles, designer clothing brands, and I love shoes!!

Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy these things without breaking the bank.

Clothing and Shoes

Nordstrom Rack App – Nordstrom sells the higher end designer brands and the Rack offers deals on those brands. But the app is so much better. The app offers deeper discounts and shipping is free once you spend $100. The best way to shop this app is to shop clearance and sort by value. I recently purchased a designer brand dress with the original price tag of $229 and paid only $29! I was also able to purchase a pair of Uggs for around $40. Make sure to sign up for their emails because they have these “Clear the Rack” sales that offer an additional 20-25% off their already low prices. Nordstrom Rack is also a great place to find accessories like jewelry and sunglasses. You can easily score a pair of Prada glasses for about $99.

Macy’s Last Act/Final Call Sales – Macy’s clearance section in stores is one of my favorites. This is where they have marked items down to their lowest and you can find some high end brands for cheap. I love to purchase my son’s Ralph Lauren polo shirts this way. Macy’s also has one of the best shoe clearance sections. Some items are out of season but that’s the best time to stock up. Macy’s also offers great coupons if you opt in for marketing.

I love Ulta because they offer just about every cosmetic brand you can think of, including fragrances. There are certain items I purchase from them because they can’t be bought anywhere else. With Ulta, you can also accumulate points and sign up for coupons.

CVS and Walgreens are also my go to places for makeup. I’ve been a L’Oreal fan forever so any given week, either one of these stores will have a BOGO sale on my favorite brand of makeup. Plus, with these stores, you can get rewards like ExtraCareBucks and tons of coupons on items you already purchase. also offers great discounts on drugstore brand cosmetics such as L’Oreal, CoverGirl, Maybelline, etc. These are usually printable coupons, but so worth the hassle.

I’d recommend signing up for the emails for anywhere you shop. It can get annoying but coupons are worth it. I just created a folder in my emails, specifically for coupons and move them over as they come. So anytime I am shopping, I can always search this folder for coupons or coupon codes. I almost always have a coupon for any store that I shop at because most of them are digital anyway.

These are some of my favs. I’d love to hear how some of you save on your favorite beauty and designer brands!
